RACIAL JUSTICE WRITING, THINKING AND RESOURCES

BLAK AUSTRALIAN AND TURTLE ISLAND/AMERICAN CONTEXTS

NOTE: THIS IS BEING UPDATED REGULARLY.
NOTE: BUY LOCAL AND/OR BLACK OWNED.
If you’re on Turtle Island/USA, use the website www.bookshop.org to support local bookstores or buy second-hand, this list for 10 Black online bookstores, or check this list for Black-owned bookstores.

I wrote this blog of resources with direct links to each book or resource to support you, me, us to do the work to unlearn/learn beliefs for racial justice and keep us accountable and not endorse violence. Prioritise and centre your commitment and unlearning, and remember that many of us are supporting and perpetuating violent structures and institutions and that the work isn’t done.

This list and sections are not exhaustive. It’s a compilation of some resources I’ve engaged with, and some I am yet to read. It is ever-evolving, but I wanted to share while it’s half-done as it’s more important to share the information than to be “ready”. So I will still be adding the links, sections, and more resources over this week and in the future. If you have the energy and capacity, please email me or message me about what could be added or changed through my webpage ‘Connect’.

Many of these resources have been gathered from the courses, trainings, online education, and suggestions of Indigenous and/or Black folks. Thank you to all of them for their devotion and capacity to ongoing labour and education.

RACE, SEXUALITY, SOMATICS AND GENDER RESOURCES: (if you are, or want to be a “sex positive professional” then this the section is essential engaging)
Looking to add Indigenous Turtle Island resources. If you know of any, please contact me.
